The W.Va. Dept. of Tourism has announced its list of "101 Unique Places to Eat in W.Va.," and several Northern Panhandle eateries have made the list.
The list was voted upon by the public through an online Web site.
The West Virginia Division of Tourism and the Collaborative for the 21st Century Appalachia partnered to identify some of the best “can’t miss” eateries across the state. These selections are the “people’s choice” and are only a sampling of what West Virginia has to offer, according to the Web site.
Local restaurants included:
Alexander's on 7th in Moundsville, Later Alligator and JoCo's Centre Market Cafe in Wheeling, Barb's Diner in Middlebourne, Baristas Cafe and Pub and Bujo’s Grill & Ale in New Martinsville, and Undo's in Wheeling, Weirton and Benwood.
I can certainly vouch for Alexander's on 7th and for Later Alligator — I love both of these places! Undo's, too, has some great food. I love the Italian Wedding Soup Pasta dish.
It sounds like I've got some eating to do in order to try the other unique places ... definitely JoCo's, and if I'm ever a bit south, I'll have to check out the Middlebourne and New Martinsville spots.
Congratulations to all!
Here is a synopsis of the local places. Check out the Web site to see the whole list of 101, listed in alphabetical order.
