I know we live in a different age now, but what the heck is going on when it comes to people not respecting the law or the men and women wearing the uniform? I just got back from the Wheeling police department where there were at least four people who were arrested for various crimes including assault or battery on a police officer. Now how stupid do you have to be to take a swing at a cop, especially when they carry a gun? You can blame it on drugs or alcohol, but I blame it on lack of respect. I feel sorry for police and military and firefighters who are taken for granted every day but when someone gets in trouble, they take out their frustrations on these folks. And parents, quit telling your kids that if they don't listen to you "that policeman will put you in jail." You ought to teach them that if they don't behave there are consequences and they should start at HOME. Police should be the people your kids run to in times of trouble or need. They should be taught to trust the law even when it does not seem fair. If not, we will continue to have an overcrowding of our jails with people who think they don't have to abide by the law or badge.
