Purging. the good kind
March 11, 2009 - Heather Ziegler
I had the occasion to be off for a few days and rediscovered the great feeling of purging the household of clutter. I enlisted the menfolk in the family and, with some prodding, was able to get them to part with those useless treasures they had been holding onto. I gave up collecting anything of value years ago after someone I will not mention by name. dropped a plumber's wrench onto the table and destroyed a glass Easter basket I had since we were married. And other delicate things are out of the question because most things I had were destroyed by flying hockey pucks, or footballs and basketballs tossed about the room. What's really great about this is that the city sanitation department took all of the nine bags or so we placed at the curb. They do a wonderful job and sometimes I think we take them for granted. What's bad about this, however, is the scavengers who pick through the trash at night and scatter it about. I hate that. If you want my trash, take it but don't make a bigger mess going through the stuff. And how about the bedbug outbreak in some of our highrise apartments in Wheeling. Some are blaming that on people bringing old mattresses out of the trash into their apartments. It's a shame that such things still occur in this day and age. I hope those folks get the bugs under control before worse things result.
