Gadgets and things

November 29, 2008 - Heather Ziegler
OK, right up front I will admit that we bought a Ginsu knife sold on television back in the 1970s. It was the knife that promised to cut tomatoes so thin the inlaws wouldn't come back again for dinner! It also was the knife that could cut a fresh loaf of bread and take a slice out of a pop can and remain sharp. Can I just tell you that it's all true. We still have the knife and I still reach for it for 95 percent of my slicing needs. This all leads me to today's must-have gadgets. I'm looking for the neatest and best gadget around today (perhaps for a gift). My husband loves this stuff. He's the one who bought the knife. I have gone through other items like the slicer and dicer (not so happy with this knuckle buster); the Foreman grill (not as easy to maintain as it looks when you cook hamburgers in it); that battery-operated sweeper shown at mall home shows and such, very disappointed; doesn't hold a charge and barely picks up anything. So come on, folks, help me out. Have you bought that shammy thing that is supposed to suck up spills like magic or the microwave spaghetti cooker? Share your experiences. I need something to rival the Ginsu knife.
