Sometimes information comes across our news desk that is just so sick and mean that it's hard to understand. The latest is a letter from Dawn Gower of Bethel Park, Pa., who said that someone broke into a Ford Explorer parked in the McLure Hotel parking garage on Nov. 13 and stole a Garmin GPS and other items. The thief or thieves stole these items from a United States Marine who received the Purple Heart for injuries he suffered in Iraq! The license plate on the car even had the Marine emblem and Purple Heart designation. As Gower wrote to the thief, "You are pathetic. The owner of that vehicle has sacrificed more than you ever have or ever will." She's right. A Marine who served in battle, was injured and comes home only to be victimized in Wheeling, W.Va., must not think much of our fair city. I only hope Wheeling's finest track this guy down and bring justice to the situation.
