| | Before You Vote -- Blow Your NoseOctober 19, 2008 - Joselyn KingI heard West Virginia Democratic Party Chairman Nick Casey say it at last week's Democratic dinner -- and it wasn't the first time I've heard the phrase uttered. And still each time I hear it, I cringe. To paraphrase -- Casey's words went something like this. "I know when there's a contentious primary, not everybody comes out happy. "I don't care if you don't like the party's candidate. You have to hold your nose and vote for them anyway. "Vote a straight ticket." Um...no. I know it's cold and allergy season, but make sure you blow your nose before you vote. You need to get a good strong whiff at what's before you. Much happening in the world these days does stink, and that's the point. Take a big, deep breath. Then think about that aroma. If your inclination is to vote for all one party, it's likely you need to blow, breathe and think again. No decision is that simple. And keep those nasal passages healthy.
