Saturday Night in Wheeling

As I compose my thoughts on this Saturday night in the office, I have to wonder if the public really knows what goes on in Wheeling at this time of night. Well, let me tell you. There was a fight call at the 7-11 (domestic dispute of some sort; another domestic dispute at 15th Street in which one party sent police on a foot chase through East Wheeling; a juvenile was taken from his home (another domestic dispute) when the mother could not handle him. There were a few of the usual calls, hit and run on Wheeling Island, DUI arrest and traffic stops. Alas I am always pleased when we can put the paper to bed without a report of shots fired or multiple alarm blazes. Thank goodness the Victoria Theater continues to bring in people for its Elvis shows. Most of the folks who attend these events are fun-loving people who add a breath of fresh air to the downtown on otherwise mundane weekend nights. Elvis, please don't leave the building.
