Thank goodness for the professionals at my daughter's day care center. While it hasn't happened very often, I can think of two times in the past month when I have been at my wit's end with Emma's behavior and they have taken the time to listen to me, one-on-one, and reassure me.
They have no idea how much their words of encouragement mean to me! Words such as "The time between ages 2 and 3 is when they go through the biggest changes of their lives" and "Don't worry. It's perfectly normal" and "You did the right thing" are like salve to my raw nerves, bruised ego and aching heart.
Thank you, ladies. You do a terrific job -- not only with the kids, but with the parents! I think working at a day care center has to be one of the hardest jobs around. Forget the oil rigs and bullfights, NBC should truly challenge the contestants on "America's Toughest Jobs" -- put them each in charge of seven 2-year-olds for a day.
