Back in the saddle

July 22, 2008 - Heather Ziegler
Sometimes it takes a vacation away from the valley, even for just a day or two, to appreciate what we have and what we don't have. What we don't have is an ocean that so many of the landlocked West Virginians flock to each year, but I find a lake atmosphere is just as appealing. There are no hurricanes on the lakes that I am aware of these days. It's funny, though. I actually have talked to people from this area who go TOWARD an ocean when a hurricane threatens while the natives of the area are running inland! As for lakes, we have our share in the tri-state area to visit. Also I have noticed that West Virginia roads are not as clean as other states and wondering if gas tax collections have caused a loss of road crews cleaning up our highways. And just who is throwing all that garbage on our Wild and Wonderful West Virginia roads? I say when they get caught, make them clean it up.
