Looking for a cover kid
June 20, 2008 - Betsy Bethel
Every year, the OV Parent has a cover kid contest. You send in the cutest photo of your youngster, and we publish it with the other entries in the magazine. Readers vote on their favorite. The top vote-getter is invited to a photo shoot for the October cover.
I love the contest because I get a kick out of seeing all those smiling faces of YOUR children. And I love how the community gets involved.
Except when they don't.
So far, we only have TWO entries for the 2008 cover kid contest!! We announced the 2008 contest in the May/June 2008 issue. Did you miss it?
Or are you just waiting to the last minute (a practice with which I'm not unfamiliar)? The deadline is Aug. 31. But seriously, only TWO entries, folks! May I encourage you to go ahead and mail us a photo? So I can stop worrying? Please?
The entry form will appear again in the upcoming July/August issue, due to hit the streets in about 10 days. Those of you who usually get your magazines from your child's school can find copies at the distribution boxes (including locations outside CVS in Martins Ferry, outside Uniglobe Travel on Market Street in Wheeling and at the Elm Grove Terrace Shopping Center), plus at local libraries, grocery stores, Wal-Mart and certain parks and pools.
More Emma-isms (out of the mouth of my 2-year-old):
Her reply when offered some barbecue pork: "No, I too young."
Blowing on a Milk Bone biscuit before giving it to the dog and declaring: "It's too hot!"
"I want the pan mittens," referring to oven mitts.
Climbing up on her new play set and shouting, "Aha! I a pirate!" (She meant to say "Ahoy!")
"I choo-ed, Mommy!" (after sneezing)
