It's not over
April 2, 2008 - Heather Ziegler
Heather Miller died Monday at the age of 21. It is not the natural order of life for parents to bury their children and this Friday will be a tough day for the Miller family as they lay their daughter to rest. I have seen this more times than I wish to count and no words give comfort, no amount of hugs relieve the pain, nothing can take it away. But there are small joys in these times. You find out who your real friends are. You learn more about yourself than you ever knew before and you decide whether your faith can sustain you. And if your loved one was an organ donor, you know some part of their physical person will go on living through others. I hope for comfort for the Miller family and friends. And there is another victim here. The family of young man Justin who was driving the car that resulted in this tragedy also has been forever changed as he now faces criminal punishment. His greatest sentence, however, will be realizing the loss of his childhood friend. Whatever you think about this, remember that everything happens for a reason. Look toward tomorrow with hope that someone learned something from this. Looking back and pointing fingers accomplishes nothing.
