Rumors only hurt
March 26, 2008 - Heather Ziegler
There have been several sad and tragic events this week that have led to many rumors. When people are arrested or injured in accidents or crimes, it makes the news. But understand we have to report the facts as provided by the official department, i.e., city police, county sheriff, state police, etc. We will not deal in rumors. People have been calling us and making comments on our Web site about the accident that has put one local girl in the hospital and the driver in jail. It doesn't matter to me, at this point how or why it happened, it happened and no amount of talking about it will change the facts. My concern at this point is for these young people and their families whose lives are forever changed. The parents I have talked to this week all agree that no matter what you teach your children or try to instill in them, things happen that are beyond parents' control. You can only hope and pray that if something goes wrong, you have the strength to get through it. Whatever your opinion is of the two victims, have the decency to think about their families now and be grateful no one else was hurt. Anyone who is smug enough to think it can't happen to them is playing with fire. My prayers are with the families.
