Moon Dog's Night to Howl

Yes, Saturday night in The Friendly City was Charles "Moon Dog" Waldrum's night to howl. Only he did not howl so much as simply wave to hockey fans at the Wheeling Nailers' game Saturday night at WesBanco Arena. The Nailers held a Moon Dog bobblehead promotion night and gave away the neatest bobblehead I've ever seen. The likeness to Moon Dog was uncanny and he told me he liked it. He said "that's my face." Anyone who knows Moon Dog understands he is different, unique. Most of the fans I talked to said they were happy to see Moon Dog honored. Others simply wanted one of the prized bobbleheads because they said Moon Dog is a part of Wheeling's landscape. Rest assured Moon Dog was treated well by the Nailers and the entire WesBanco Arena staff. He has some caring people looking after him and he was happy to be part of bobblehead night. He also was happy to accept the brand new bicycle the Nailers presented to him Saturday night. Moon Dog will be styling fine at the next parade in Wheeling. The Nailers lost the game to Cincinnati but it was still a winning night.

Congrats to Moon Dog.

Boo to the Nailers. The way they handled the crowd and the give away just underscored how bad their front office is from top to bottom.
