Running Red Lights
December 29, 2007 - Heather Ziegler
I'm glad the holidays are about over. I've witnessed some out-of-towners, especially, driving in nightmarish form since before Christmas. Sorry to pick on our visitors, but if you want to drive in the Ohio Valley, play by our rules It seems it is an unwritten, self-proclaimed rule in Pennsylvania that red lights aren't really red until at least 5 seconds after they've turned red. That's why I have noticed so many Pa. drivers here in Wheeling skipping through red lights like it was the natural thing to do. Well, I say cut it out. Yellow lights are the place to test your moxie when it comes to driving, but not the red lights. I've seen near-misses and have had to look twice before proceeding on green. Yep, there goes another idiot flying past me. What is so important that you have to put your life and mine in peril? The next time I am in Pittsburgh, I plan to stop at every YELLOW light and make you sit behind me as it turns red. Have a nice day in the Friendly City.
