Just in case you haven't finished your shopping yet and need to rush out and buy something, here are a few suggestions. See what you think.
These gifts are a bit beyond my budget limitations ... I usually like to keep it under a thousand! (Way under a thousand, like hundreds of dollars under a thousand!)
So, I guess I'll not be purchasing the Once-in-a-Lifetime Electric Car and Shuttle Launch Package from Sam's Club (samsclub.com) for $35,000. Oh, drat. I see now that it was only available for purchase on Nov. 8 beginning at noon, Central Standard Time.
The package includes a Lithium-powered smart fourtwo vehicle, which is a zero-emission vehicle. Because the electric vehicle was developed with the use of NASA technology, the package also includes an exclusive VIP viewing of a Space Shuttle launch. You also get five nights at the LaCita Country Club for four people, a private tour of the Kennedy Space Center, the chance to take part in the Astronaut Training Experience program with a former astronaut and airfare. Wow.
There was just one of these packages available. I wonder if anyone bought it! It really would have been great for my son, Leland. He's always bugging us for a car, and it would be easy to park in NYC, and if he heads to the West Coast, it will be very green for California. Now, I don't remember him ever wanting to be an astronaut, but he has always wanted to fly.
And for my daughter, Amanda, I found a perfect little thing, for just $4.5 million. It's the 2007 Very Sexy Holiday Fantasy Bra Gift Set, from Victoria's Secret. The bra contains 9,000 diamonds and gemstones that give the illusion of holly, poinsettias and holiday ribbons, according to the catalog. The set also includes a thong, garter, cuff bracelet and hair ornament. Total carat weight is 584.76 in diamonds; 797.40 in emeralds; 276.93 in rubies; and 3.42 in yellow sapphires. I'm a bit disappointed, however, because the purchase does not include holiday offers, such as the free logo tote, handbag or weekender.
I could get my husband Bruce the $1.59 million Classical Superstars Fantasy Concert from the Neimen Marcus Marcus "fantasy gifts" section of its 81st Christmas Book. Because he is orchestra manager of the Wheeling Symphony, he might enjoy the world-famous Kirov Orchestra with "uber-maestro" Valery Gergiev working his Russian magic. Firebrand virtuoso Lola Astanova beating the daylights out of a Steinway concert grand. Performing "The Nutcracker Suite," the Tchaikovsky "Piano Concerto" and another Tchaikovsky masterpiece of your choice. In your hometown, at a private holiday concert for you and 499 of your closest friends. Hosted by Regis Philbin, according to the catalog. The party will be filmed and each guest can take home that as a party favor. You even get to keep the tour piano after all the artists autograph it.
Oh my. I guess I could invite everyone I know (and then some) and my holiday shopping would be complete!
So, there, I'm all finished and I've only spent $7.125 million.
In my dreams. In my dreams.
