Are You Kidding Me?
February 27, 2013 - Heather Ziegler
Lawyers for troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan are asking a judge to sentence his client to non-jail activities including serving as a motivational speaker at "schools, hospitals and other venues where she may provide inspirational talks, encouraging children to pursue positive goals and avoid bad habits." REALLY?? Is any judge willing to put the fox in the hen house? I believe in giving people a second chance. I've had a few of my own second chances throughout my life (non-criminal) but nothing that compares to Lohan's run-ins with the law. Her latest crimes -- though misdemeanors -- show she has no regard for the law or respect for those wearing the uniform. She is charged with reckless driving, lying to a police officer and obstructing a police officer. This all stems from a traffic accident in which she claims she was not driving (that's where the lying charge comes in.) Let's not forget her previous antics -- fighting, etc. -- that landed her in various courtrooms. And her behavior there included obscene gestures and fingernail paintings when she faced the judge. Some of her bizarre actions in the past point to a life out of control. She's a long way from her Disney-like days as a carefree child actress. Give her another chance? Maybe. But please do not send her out into the world of impressionable young people who easily believe her to be a superstar instead of the person she shows us to be.
