Dollar stores

May 19, 2011 - Heather Ziegler
Have you been to the Elm Terrace Shopping center lately? I go there at lease once a week for something. There are two nice dollar stores there. One has mostly dollar items and the other store offers discount prices, but not everything at $1. With coupons in hand, I can truly say I spend my dollars wisely between the two stores. And then there is the Ben Franklin store -- a dream come true for crafters and those looking for something unique. And don't forget the Hallmark store because they really do have cards for every occasion under the sun and moon. Louis' Hotdogs is still bringing in customers there and there are a couple of other smaller businesses that make up the rest of the strip. Warwood, Center Wheeling and Elm Grove all have dollars stores. Why can't we get one in the Woodsdale area?? There are plenty of open spaces along National Road and it would be a gold mine for anyone who opened one. I know that when we used to do travel basketball and hockey, our hotels were usually near dollars stores, a Walmart, a Bob Evans or other restaurants and retailers. Since we have the Spring Hills Suites and Hampton Inn along National Road, I'm sure visitors would find use for such a retail store. CVS and Kroger offer their particular items, but they just aren't dollar stores.
