why not try it

April 5, 2011 - Heather Ziegler
I noticed the "dogs" on the field at Linsly School several weeks ago and realized, after numerous looks, that they were decoys. That field had been polluted with Canada geese which make such a mess of things. The dogs are doing their job. The fowl have flown the coop. It would be nice to have some of those dogs or coyotes at Heritage Port where the fowl continue to foul the area. My guess is that someone would most likely have some fun with them or stela them, but it's worth a try. There also are a couple of mallard ducks nesting at the port and behind the civic arena. Early in the morning, I have seen popcorn on the ground and have nearly run over the ducks eating the stuff on 14th Street. I know it sounds cruel not to feed the birds and such but that only brings more problems with rodents -- something we don't need, especially with festival season soon upon us at the waterfront.
