What about the troops?
February 17, 2011 - Heather Ziegler
At the risk of sounding politically incorrect or insensitive, I begin this blog with a disclaimer. I know this might come off as callous to some people but here goes. I don't get the mainstream media's coverage of the post-shooting and recovery process of Congressomwan Gabrielle Giffords. It is appalling what happened to her. It's a crime and it should make every American mad. Any news that can be released that might help to prevent a similar tragedy is good. And it's great that she is getting the best possible health care money can buy. I just want some reassurance that our military troops are getting the same treatment when they come home mangled from war. Every day there is a story about the congresswoman's recovery. And a story on NBC national news last night talked all about her recovery and showed the rehab facility where is receiving treatment. They did not show her, but showed other people going through treatment. Why not show our veterans and the facilities they must use to receive treatment for their injuries? Why not focus on their recovery as well? Ziegenfelder's. a Wheeling business, just donated more than $20,000 to Operation Homefront to help injured soldiers and their families. Isn't it sad that we need to have an Operation Homefront? We should take care of those troops as we do our lawmakers.
