It was just one letter...

September 20, 2007 - Heather Ziegler
OK, we are taking some heat for running a photo in the News-Register Tuesday night because one of the students in the picture is holding up a sign that says Let's Go Moutaineers. Yes the word Mountaineers is spelled incorrectly, but it's not the end of the world folks. And don't be so hard on the principal. He probably didn't even see the sign before the kid posed for the photo. I think the whole thing serves as a great LESSON and isn't school about learning from our mistakes? It also shows that no one is perfect. That's what makes us human. I'll bet that kid will never spell Mountaineer wrong again and teachers will check that sort of thing before a newspaper reporter shows up to take a photo. Don't forget the national blooper when WVU's basketball team won a championship and their T-shirts had the word Virginia misspelled. It happens. Chill out.
