It still amazes me when I think of the number of requests we receive each week at the newspaper to print information about a fundraiser to benefit someone who is suffering from a catastrophic illness. It seems there is never enough insurance to cover all of the mind-bending costs of treating cancer or rehabilitation necessary from a horrific accident. Then there are the heartbreaking calls when someone needs to have a fundraiser just to cover funeral costs. Those really hit you in the gut. You are a wonderfully generous bunch of people out there in the Ohio Valley. You always respond. You help fire and flood victims. You pay to bury someone's child or parent. You bring food and clothes when that's called for. You give blood like no other region in the country and you help your neighbors without a second thought. I'm glad you are my neighbors.
