Who Loses the Most?
May 13, 2010 - Heather Ziegler
Primary election day is over in West Virginia. Thanks to those people who have taken down their signs already. I noticed "Big John" Mallett removing his son Shane's sign on 16th Street yesterday. Shane was elected to serve on the Ohio County Board of Education.
Now that Congressman Alan Mollohan has lost his party's nomination for re-election, there must be some people shaking a bit in their boots. No matter what your feelings are for the man, Mollohan brought a lot of dollars to the Mountain State. In particular, police and fire departments, highway projects and schools and universities realized the benefits of his power of monetary persuasion to bring funding here. The NASA center at Wheeling Jesuit is just one example of that type of funding. And with Sen, Robert C. Byrd edging closer to retirement, what will our freshmen leaders in Washington be able to do for us? Time will only tell.
