Hoping for a 'Tail Wagging' Ending
May 7, 2010 - Phyllis Sigal
To the person who placed the little sign on a telephone pole in the Woodsdale area stating "Collie Found," and a phone number, good job!
It was a little sign, fairly unassuming, tacked to a pole, but it caught my attention during my walk on Thursday.
I love collies, and maybe that's why I noticed it. I thought about the poor family missing their friendly collie. Usually, you see signs posted asking for help in finding a lost dog, with a little snapshot of the poor missing pet. They always make me sad.
But, when I saw the word "Found" ... it made me happy. Soon, the family would be reunited with its pet, I hoped.
I was almost home from my walk, about 40 minutes later, when a car pulled up beside me and asked if I had happened to see a collie while I was wandering the neighborhood.
"No! But I saw a sign ... 'found' ... on a pole ... now where was it?" I said.
The woman in the car was so excited!
I recalled that I saw the sign early on my route ... I retraced my steps as she turned her car around and went back toward where I thought I saw the sign.
I waited outside my house for a little while, hoping she'd drive by again so I could find out if she found the sign ... and her dog.
Soon, a little boy and the woman came walking up the street. They found the sign; he held it out in front of him. They had called the number, but got no answer.
They carried on, up the street, yelling for their pet.
I hope they connected. I'm really hoping for happy endings and tails wagging!
