You have to see it
February 17, 2010 - Heather Ziegler
Anyone who has has the occasion to visit the Pittsburgh area lately knows what I mean when I say you have to see it to believe it. That area of the Ohio Valley definitely got a lot of more snow than we did here in the Wheeling area. All those narrow and hilly streets in those Pittsburgh communities are nearly impossible to navigate at times. There is snow piled higher than the cars and trucks parked on the streets. The residents are at a loss as to where to put the white stuff. I saw so many people on their roofs trying to remove the heavy snow build-up before it snowed again. Even more daunting is the huge and I mean huge icicles everywhere. They are hanging from cars, buildings, trees, power lines, lights on the electric poles and in places I can't explain. Roofs are leaking and the gutters - jamed with heavy ice - are pulling away from the buildings. I kniow this is happening here, too, but it seems to be even worse up river. Remember, folks, all this snow will eventually melt and pour into streams and the rivers up that way. That will flow down here to us, too. Be prepared is all I can suggest. Flooding may be inevitable with this much snow.
